On
Sunday, February
11th, 2007, we
visited Bach and Gisela and had a wonderful Vietnamese
luncheon with them. This winter, Bach made a series of
photos of sunsets and sunrises. I wanted to take a new
shot of Bach this time with his Camera.....Hard to take a
good shot of a photographer at work? |
 |

Bach describes
his work saying: A photographer only has a
fraction of a second to capture the feeling evoked by an
interesting subject, frame it, with sufficient lighting and
colour, and click! I invite you to come and share the beauty
of nature depicted in my artwork, and visit a beautiful
flower rock garden.” |
|
Here are a few samples of
Bach's original photography:
 |

 |
Here it is in his own words, French:
| May 7th, 2006.

Once again this year I was welcomed with a
resplendent array of Tulips bloom outside and inside
the house. |

I was invited to a wonderful Vietnamese
luncheon cooked by Bach, starting with a
noodle/egg/asparagus/shrimp and chicken soup, wild rice,
salmon in a sweet and sour sauce, a garden vegetable
ratatouille, and these desert tarts.
YUMMY!
Thank you Bach and Gisela!
Bach also gives Vietnamese cooking
courses and accepts commissions to photograph still-life
(products) and special events. |

This year Bach is preparing macro-photography
of his flowers. He has winter scenes, landscapes and
narrow streets of the south of France and his famous ice
formations in macro-photography too. |

The garden overlooks the Ottawa River.
He has many photos of the view from his house, including a
series of amazing November sunsets. He does not lack
subjects to artistically record with his cameras and special
zooming lenses. |

It is a work of love.
 |

View of the garden below the house. |

What a breathtaking sight.
On the other side of the house there is a
fenced (they have three cats) vegetable garden with all
sorts of veggies including spinach, onions, radishes and
even asparagus. Bach also grows climbing beans of
various sorts and Vietnamese Zucchini. Bach and Gisela
both spend a few hours a day tending to their magnificent
garden. In late summer their fine herbs are dried and
crumbled into a wonderful bouquet-garnie. |

There are tulips of all colours at the top of
the hill, behind the house and at the bottom garden.
Many violets, pansies, anemones, colourful groundcovers and
the lilies and irises are coming up too. Later on in
the summer, many glorious flowers bloom in this exceptional
garden. |

Back and Gisela are digging out a Japanese
poppy plant for me.
They also have bird feeders that attract
colourful finches, gross-beaks, and even the Cardinals made
themselves a home in their garden. |

On
August 5th, 2005, during Route des Arts Shalon Heffernan and I visited Bach Nguyen's studio. The view
from the hill is spellbinding. |

Ranger.
Carole is happy she could buy a small
photo. She said "I am a fan!" |
Bach & Gisela invited
me to see Bach's new collection of landscape photographs taken winter
2005 in France, and their spring garden. The new photos are striking,
especially because of the intriguing angles and lighting, revealing
secret corners that caught Bach's eyes. Their house is on a hill
overlooking the Ottawa river and their garden is resplendent with a
beautiful array of tulips and blossoming ground covers.
