Summer 2007
Note August 17th: Since August 2006, I have had
three leg injuries. My Wwoofers helped me to
maintain the garden since then. In 2007, no
annuals were planted and very few vegetable seed put in.
However, come August, the garden is abloom with great
perennials. This summer was not very
sunny....so many things bloomed very late.

A little wild flower from last year's seeds just
popped up to compensate for the Clematis that did not
bloom yet this year.

The Ichenata that was eaten down to the ground by the
groundhog and the deer last year, courageously came
back.

The rose started early and was full of blooms, it is
trying to take over the whole front garden.

This year the pink Hollyhock is too young to blossom,
but the red one is on.

The Hosta was great this year. The deer only ate
the one at the top of the hill.
The Dahlia and gladiolas are not blooming yet!

Red Phlox, which was absolutely ravaged last year by the
ground hog and the deer....is back. |
 |

Got to shoot the Pardacanda too late I guess. |

Until the snow and ice went away, the
Christmas Cactus bloom twice, January and May, 2006. |

June 8, 2006 Japanese Poppies. The deer already
ate away all the tops of the Ichenatia, bee balm and my
salmon and red phlox. |
The first time I bought annual asters. |

The red phlox bloomed despite the deer even though a bit less
flowers. |
 Liatris was happy.

Two vegetable gardens this year, in the hope that the
groundhog and deer will leave at least half for me. |
|
Photos taken mid-August.

This year I plucked the red beetles off every
morning, so the Tiger lilies were tremendous.

Courageous Ichenatia grew a bit despite being chewed
down by deer. |

The Dahlia was half eaten by an ant hill.
 |

The perennial Gladiola came back.

The 2nd vegetable garden has many fine herbs too. |

Irish Eyes Rudbekia is still in bloom since June.

Baby phlox planted by Katja are growing. |

Pardacanda is another wonderful surprise. Bought
at the end of last summer, came back bigger and healthy.

Another lovely flower bought this summer is the
Croximia (red). |

The surprise of this summer is this plant. When
dead-headed gives new blooms. It is called
Campanule takesimana Elisabeth Japonais Rose. |
