Monique demonstrates the technique of cloth        painting/printing.

This month I visited the studio of Monique Laramée.  I actually came to take a class in cloth painting.  This technique is really a fun way to make art.  It uses special textile inks and stamps that you carve by yourself, in order to create repeat patterns.

Monique expertly demonstrated how to do it and let me try my hand at it.  I just loved it!

Cloth printing - place mat.

Monique makes cloth hangings (shown behind Monique on her easel), tablecloths, place mats, napkins and even an apron.

Monique models a printed apron she made.

I also had a sneak preview of Monique’s new paintings.

This is an interesting studio to visit during Route des Arts 2004.
