Studio Visit: Luc Melançon Cedar Canoes

Luc Melançon was selected as one of the new Route des Arts 2007 studios.  To see more about what Luc does, visit his website: www.canotslostriver.com On June 25th, I visited with two of my guests.  Luc just returned from a 9-day fishing trip.

Here are Luc and Ghislain hardy bringing the canoe back to the workshop.

And using a pulley saved from an old theatre stage, Luc hoists the boat up. Luc also offered my young visitors to come and work with him for a day, showing how he bends cedar strips and works on restoring an old canoe.  The visitors regarded it as an exceptional treat.  Thank you Luc.
