Linda Person came to
work with me at the data centre of Bank of Nova Scotia as a temp. We
became friends. Linda and Hank lived in a small rented place on St.
Viateur St., in Montreal. After their wedding, they found jobs
teaching at the regional high school in Cowansville. Hank
continued his studies for a teaching certificate. They first lived in
a lovely 2-floored rented country home outside Bromont, they moved to a
larger bungalow with a beautiful fire-place. When Dodi and I moved to
our house at 4917 Van Horne St., in Montreal, they both came to help us
paint the house. I never painted a house before and they were such a
great help that I shall never forget it.
Later on they moved
nearer to their teaching jobs in Cowansville. We sold our house and
moved to an apartment building. Hank visited us there once when he had
to pick Linda up at the airport. They had Rachel and then Jason... We
once took a drive to the Eastern Township and looked them up. They
built themselves a new life with a circle of new local friends...Then we
lost touch. But I never forgot these wonderful friends, who made the
first few years in Canada so much nicer. With the help of internet, I
located Hank and finally gathered the courage to call him. Lo and
behold, his children have grown and moved on to the U.S., and Hank himself
is involved in an interesting project (see below).
