Robert during Route des Arts 2007    already demonstrated RAKU art on a sunny day (Raku Photo received from Robert Dionne).

March 1st, 2007 I visited, following Jury selection of

Robert Dionne

to be one of the studios of Route des Arts 2007. Upon arrival, you see the facade of the house, painted with similar to the Three-dimensional painting Robert poses next to.

Robert has two separate studios.  One studio is a well equipped with two turntables a press for flattening clay, a kiln and many other Pottery tools.

The other studio, is a bright room stacked with painting supplies, interesting sketches, paintings in-progress, and finished, mounted paintings.

Robert in his Painting Studio:

The subjects vary, there are symbolic objects, animals and human figures share the space.  Some paintings are three-dimensional with other objects and materials affixed to the ground.  The two-dimensional paintings contain thickly painted brush strokes, as well as transparent layering.

Here are some images submitted by Robert:

For his paintings, Robert now uses a palette that is reminiscent of the colouring of his pottery.  He also incorporates pieces of ceramics into his paintings.
